Hope Garden

The Hope Garden: A Sanctuary for Youth Mental Health

The Hope Garden is being created as a peaceful, four-season sanctuary designed to inspire optimism and raise awareness for youth mental health.

At its heart, a custom-crafted stone perimeter forms a distinctive heart shape, currently filled with newly planted yellow tulip bulbs. These tulips are the signature flower of the youth-led Yellow Tulip Project; a movement founded by a high school student to smash the stigma around mental health and encourage people to ask for help. Tulips symbolize hope, happiness, and brighter days. Their radiant spring bloom will serve as an annual, uplifting reminder that healing is possible and that no one is alone on their journey.

Throughout the year, the garden will continue to flourish with vibrant summer annuals, evergreen groundcover, and calming blue corner plantings, offering a consistent symbol of resilience and light.

Location and Community Impact

Located in Woodbridge, Virginia, the Hope Garden grows naturally from the Children’s Garden, set in the welcoming space between the Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center and the Chinn Park Regional Library. Here, the Hope Garden continues to have a shared theme of growth, connection, and community care. Designed for beauty in every season, the garden embraces the restorative power of nature and invites visitors to pause, breathe deeply, and feel supported in a place created to nurture emotional well-being.

This heartfelt collaboration between the Garden Club of Lake Ridge and the Woodbridge Woman’s Club brings our community together to champion youth mental health in a beautiful and meaningful way.

Stay tuned—this little heart is about to bloom big!
